Hope Community Church was started in 1988 with a handful of people who had the vision of a Church that would speak to modern culture and encourage unchurched people to take a look at Christianity once again.
Hundreds of people took advantage of that opportunity and in turn invited their friends and neighbors to rediscover God and church. Hope Community Church helped to start other churches with a similar desire to help our communities to grow. In fact it was many of these people who helped to support the start of Hope Community Church. Our denomination continues to be very involved in developing churches like Hope that can really impact peoples lives.
We have also bought 7.5 acres of land on Fraser Highway in the Clayton Heights area with the dream of building a community where needs are met and people come to know a God who loves them.
Hope Community Church, while being a self governing Church, is a part of the Christian Reformed Denomination. The Christian Reformed Denomination is in the Presbyterian family of churches, which emphasizes the centrality of the Bible and the all powerful hand of God guiding history to His eternal conclusion. The Christian Reformed Denomination played a key role translating the most popular modern English translation of the Bible in the world, the New International Version. As part of this strong denomination we are linked with over 900 Churches and over 340,000 Christians throughout Canada and the United States. In fact it was many of these folks who helped pay for Hope's beginning.
Hope is also part of a worldwide Christian church that is busy bringing Gods love throughout the world in areas like famine relief and supporting those who suffer from AIDS and other diseases. We recognize what a global community we live in and how much God loves that whole community.
