BOARD OF ELDERS - Chuck Gerber
The Board of Elders keeps the vision of Hope Community Church going. It oversees all the issues relating to the mission and direction of the church.
DEACONS MINISTRY - Gerry Akkerman
The emphasis of the Deacon's Ministry is one of "Prayer and Care." We are a team of Hope Community members elected by the members to oversee the care of those in need at the church and in the community. We know we must care but first we must pray for we do not want to act without God's help.
"Intense love does not measure, it just gives." -Mother Teresa
LOCAL MISSIONS & OUTREACH
Every one of us was made for a mission. God is at work in this world, and he wants us to join Him and share His love right where we are. God wants us to reach out to the people in our lives! That might mean inviting a friend to church or showing love to those in need around us. The opportunities for everyday Christians to become involved in short and long term local missions and outreach are almost limitless. We were saved to serve and made to go out and spread the Good News!
“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have” 1 Peter 3:15
HOME GROUPS - Marie Currie
Home Groups are an important part of Hope Community Church. They provide a comfortable setting in which participants can develop meaningful relationships with others from Hope and gain a more personal understanding of the Lord. The goal of small groups is to encourage people to get together and grow together. We need to share our lives in order to develop friendships. We also want to help people develop a regular habit of Bible reading and prayer. A spiritual walk is essential for growing. Home Groups may consist of 4-14 adults, who get together on a regular basis for fellowship and study. Each group picks its own study materials and meeting schedules. We have a group especially for you! We all need each other in order to grow in community and in our faith.
NURSERY - Kathy Joshi
Each Sunday morning, you can find dedicated caregivers in our nursery for babies and toddlers. To date we have a number of people volunteering their time each Sunday morning. If you would like, you are welcome to stay with your child in the nursery to see how they do.
CORNERSTONE KIDS - Laura Gerber & Karen VanderZwaag
Each Sunday morning during the sermon part of the service kids in Kindergarten - grade 6 can come and learn about God's love for them. We combine fun hands on activities with God’s truths. The trained volunteers in these classes are committed to the children and their spiritual growth. The children hear stories from the Bible, do crafts, learn songs and develop friendships that often extend outside the classrooms. Our goal is to work as a team with parents to encourage their children to learn about God, and His love for them.

Grades 9-12 – Joel VanDijk & Greg Gerber
For those in grades 9-11. We focus on creating a fun, relaxed and encouraging place to hang with your friends. We talk about whatever issues are facing our youth and how to deal with the complex world of teens. Currently, this group meets for Bible study every other week on Monday evenings at 7:30pm, and meets for a social evening of "whatever" during the in-between weeks! Friends are ALWAYS welcome. Check the calendar for upcoming events.
YOUNG ADULTS / REVOLUTION 180 – Greg Gerber
The young adults of Hope Community meet every second Sunday evening to take in depth looks at various topics including: cognitive type theory, body language, dating, world issues and how each of these relate to and teach us more about God’s amazing nature. Out of this group’s passion for other people, Revolution180 was born.
Revolution 180 is a "grass roots" ministry targeted at spreading Love and Kindness throughout our communities, and is one of the young adult ministries of Hope Community Church where we believe that church should simply be a place where we should all journey together - even with all of our "messy" parts of life - toward Becoming, Believing, and Belonging. Read more and join the revolution at www.revolution180.ca !
COFFEE BREAK - Candy Vanderwoud
Is a woman's Bible study group. There is a morning and evening group. Coffee/Tea and a delicious snack of some kind with a direct study of the Bible or a Biblically based book always creates a wonderful discussion and often offers profound change and growth. See the calendar for further details.
ADOPT-A-STREET - Sandy Doyle
Hope Community Church, in partnership with the City of Surrey, has 'adopted' Fraser Highway between 184th & 188th Streets. Every 4-6 weeks a team of volunteers heads out to clean up the garbage that collects along the road. Our clean up area includes the frontage of our church property, the homes, business', bus stops and sidewalks all along this stretch of Fraser Highway. It is a great opportunity to get out in the Clayton Heights community and meet the neighbours while helping to take care of the environment. Our efforts are always appreciated and well received. Anyone wishing to help is always welcome!
